Dr Alan Parnham
Dr. Alan Parnham, the project lead for North Star Medical Centre of Excellence and Chair of the Gold Coast Transitional Care Centre (GCTCC Board), has extensive experience in healthcare. Since 1998, he has served as a medical specialist consultant on the Gold Coast. He currently holds the position of Director at the Gold Coast Private Hospital Dialysis Unit. He is a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Gold Coast University Hospital, Robina Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital, and Pindara Hospital. Dr. Parnham is an active member of the nephrology network, both nationally and internationally, and has held significant roles, including Chairman of the Queensland State-wide Renal Network and Lecturer at Griffith Medical School. He is also a principal investigator for several international clinical trials at Griffith Clinical Trials Unit.
Dr Rob Shaw
Dr. Robert Shaw is a distinguished consultant nephrologist since 2010, holding a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). With a solid foundation in nephrology, Dr. Shaw has become a leading expert in managing complex renal medical conditions.
Since his qualification, Dr. Shaw has been at the forefront of advanced renal care, overseeing the comprehensive management of intricate renal cases across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. His practice is characterised by a meticulous, patient-centered approach that integrates the latest advancements in nephrology with compassionate care.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Shaw is dedicated to working with First Nation communities, incorporating culturally sensitive practices to ensure respectful and equitable care for Indigenous patients.
His commitment to blending cutting-edge medical practices with culturally informed care enhances patient outcomes and quality of life.
Dr. Shaw remains actively engaged in the medical community, continually updating his knowledge with the latest research and innovations in renal medicine to maintain his position at the forefront of his specialty.
Dr Ellen Hourn
Dr Hourn is a dual qualified specialist physician in Nephrology and General Medicine, with additional qualifications in palliative and perioperative medicine. Dr Hourn strives to care for her patients holistically throughout the various phases of their life. She is experienced in managing a wide breadth of internal medical conditions and has particular interest in acute and perioperative kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and hypertension.
She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with MBBS and Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science). She completed specialist training predominantly in South East Queensland in addition to renal transplant training at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, the largest renal transplant centre in South West England. She has further diversified her clinical skills with a Master of Perioperative Medicine at Monash University and a Clinical Diploma of Palliative Medicine from the RACP.
Dr Hourn has a keen interest in medical education and sustainable healthcare. She is dedicated to continuing professional development and has ongoing research interests in outcomes of renal transplantation and hypertension.
Dr Jagadeesh Kurtkoti
Dr Jagadeesh Kurtkoti currently employed as the Director for the Division of Nephrology at Gold Coast University Hospital and serves as a visiting medical officer at Pindara and Gold Coast Private Hospitals. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Griffith University.
Dr. Kurtkoti completed his training in medicine and nephrology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He has been with Gold Coast Hospital since 2007, and in 2009, he was appointed as a staff specialist in Nephrology and as the clinical lead for the Division of Medicine at Griffith University. He has been dedicated to serving the local community by treating patients with kidney disease and hypertension.
He has participated in clinical trials and published in national and international journals. He is currently a co-investigator in several clinical trials related to kidney disorders and hypertension.
In his personal time, he enjoys skiing, tennis, golf, and traveling with his young family.

Patient care occupies a paramount position in Dr Srinivasa’s professional ethos. He prioritise the well-being of each patient while collaborating effectively with diverse clinical teams in public and private hospitals across South East QLD and Northern NSW.

Dr Yusuf Eqbal
Renal Medicine, General Medicine
Dr. Yusuf Eqbal is a Nephrologist and General Physician. He is originally from Melbourne and moved to the Gold Coast in 2008. He completed specialist training in the field of Nephrology but also has a keen interest in General Medicine.
Dr. Eqbal prides himself on his wholistic approach to patient care. He is an excellent communicator and delivers specialist care in line with evidence based and multi-disciplinary care.
He has experience working across multiple different specialties including completion of his transplant care at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. His interests include looking after patients with chronic kidney disease, kidney transplantation, glomerulonephritis and patients requiring dialysis. In conjunction with this he practises and provides care to patients with complex comorbidities under the umbrella of General Medicine.

Dr. Anthony Foat is a dedicated consultant nephrologist with a focus on delivering patient-centric care through a collaborative, team-oriented approach. He currently serves at Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital, and holds Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) positions at Pindara Private, Gold Coast Private Hospital, John Flynn Private, and Tweed Valley Hospital. Originally from Brisbane, Dr. Foat has honed his expertise in nephrology across various hospitals in Queensland, before choosing to establish his practice and raise his family on the Gold Coast.
